The Imperial Fund Asset Management team was delighted to attend the Insurance Investor Life North America 2025 conference in New York.
It was a pleasure meeting with different participants in the Insurance Asset Management industry, and we look forward to continued engagement as non-QM's investor base continues to grow and evolve.
The conference underscored several key themes:
In a panel discussion on insurance portfolio investment, Imperial Fund Asset Management partner Dmitri Batsev discussed the importance of proprietary sourcing for financial products.
Amidst historically tight corporate bond spreads and monetary easing around the globe, the ability to originate investment products carries a premium as competitive bidding is observed across asset classes.
Much discussion centered on NAIC regulation and its impacts on insurance investment.
The rating of investments is particularly important to insurers as they are subject to strict capital requirements.
Recent updates by the NAIC enable mortgage investment exposure through affiliated funds to receive the same treatment as loans held directly on insurers' books.
This update broadens the ways in which insurers can invest while continuing to comply with regulations.
As annuity sales continue to rise, the duration of investments continues to be an important consideration for insurance investors.
If rates continue to fall, investor focus will be on the convexity of different potential investments.
It was a pleasure for the team to attend the conference, and we look forward to continued attendance at future events.
